OnSwitch focuses on behind-the-meter solar projects nationwide ranging from 30kW to multi-megawatts, with particular focus on multi-building solar project portfolio sales and installation. Our customers include F1000 corporate buyers (direct sales) as well as top solar project development companies (indirect channel).

OnSwitch is hiring a Safety Manager that will assist with the implementation of prevention-focused health, safety and environmental (HSE) program. The position will assist and promote Operations- specific project implementation and training to support OnSwitch’s overall HSE objectives.

The Safety Manager will report to the Vice President, Construction.

OnSwitch is headquartered in San Francisco with an East office in New Jersey. This position is remote-based though employees based in San Francisco Bay Area or northern New Jersey can benefit from weekly in-person team collaboration.

Full time OR Flexible Part Time 20-25 hours per week employee or consultant.

Responsibilities

  • Complete new hire orientation training programs as assigned by the Vice President.
  • Maintain records for safety programs (ie training logs, reports, inspections).
  • Implement and train new or existing training programs, provided by Vice President, to employees and supervision as needed.
  • Participates in investigations, when needed, on vehicle accidents and injuries.
  • Assist with the identification of root causes and helps supervision develop corrective actions when needed.
  • Engages associates to properly follow work methods in their daily job functions.
  • Completes observations and coaching of high-risk associates as needed.
  • Monitors inspection of equipment to detect existing or potential failures and recommends corrective/preventative measures where indicated.
  • Support site management in the implementation of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) plans.
  • Promotes a workplace that is a proactive safety culture.
  • Provide supervisor and management training on root cause analysis.
  • Interface with regulatory bodies (OSHA, DOT, EPA, and State/Local Regulators) in the Safety Directors absence.
  • Aids with the completion of a companywide annual HSE training plan.
  • Develop effective interdepartmental relationships.
  • Display strong problem solving, organizational and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrate professional maturity and ability to act as a change member.
  • Promote zero-incident HSE culture throughout the company.
  • Interprets trains and consistently enforces Company policies and procedures.
  • Be familiar with ISN Safety Compliance software.
  • Maintains associate relations through regular interactions and communication, monitors associate morale and provides feedback to leadership when needed.

Qualifications

Education

  • Associate degree and/or a minimum of 2 years of safety experience with OSHA certifications.

Experience

  • 2+ years with direct hands-on safety experience in the construction industry.
  • 2+ years of experience with Occupational Safety preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

  • Has attained or is working toward certification in safety as a recognized safety professional.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License.

Safety Assurance Job Specific Duties

  • Perform on-site Quality Control/Quality Assurance Inspections and report and record the results per schedule and as assigned by Supervisor.
  • Issuance of the Non-Compliance Reports and overseeing and recording the proper Non-Compliance Follow-up Report results.
  • Report daily operations status to management and update, as necessary.
  • Review plans, specifications, and manufacturer’s instructions for proper material installation during pre-construction meetings and work in progress.
  • Attending the Pre-job conference with Foreman & Estimator/Project Manager, and Project Coordinator and record-keeping of this process for company and affiliates per schedule and as assigned by Supervisor.

Training Specific Duties

  • Periodic review of the published Company Training Calendar.
  • Work in collaboration with the training team to ensure employees are properly trained for the work being performed.
  • Quality Control assistance and oversight during Company Training Programs. This may include, but not limited to presentations, demonstrations, and hands-on/mockup review.

Administrative Duties

  • Assist with the Quarterly Safety Equipment Inspections for company and affiliates.
  • Periodically review Employee Development Program to ensure proper employee documentation and training.
  • Report and document any safety or quality violations to company management.
  • Ensure compliance and documentation of the company Quality Control Program.
  • Review and Assist with Quality Control project submittals, such as site-specific reports or support training documentation.
